How easy would it be where you live to leave your car behind or not even have one?
Past City Councils have had Town Hall meetings on Smart Growth or Mixed use pedestrian friendly, and those never seemed to gather much interest.
I came across Walk Score last night, a website that scores homes and neighborhoods for walkability. Their view: "Being able to leave your car at home more often is great for your wallet, your waistline and the environment."
Just type in your address and the web site gives you a ranking between 1 and 100. My neighborhood gets a 51. Included are places to eat, shop, visit parks and local banking. Although I think grocery shopping at Stripes is not gonna cut it. Interesting none the less..

President Obama spent part of Monday pandering to unions and verbally attacking Republicans.
"Striking a conciliatory election-year tone, President Obama told an audience of labor union officials that he hasn’t been “a perfect president” but had always stayed true to his pledge to work on their behalf."
This is good, “I just barely can hammer a nail into the wall,” Obama said.Woo-Hoo!
Have we ever had a president who attacked nearly half the states in the republic? Well, we do now. During the same speech President Obama attacked right to work states. Nice.

The EPA official who said in a speech that the agency’s philosophy for dealing with oil producers is to “crucify them” received over $500,000 in federal grants when he was a professor at SMU. The money funded his environmental activism. The Daily Caller has the story:
President Barack Obama appointed Alfredo “Al” Armendariz as the administrator for EPA’s South Central Region (Region 6) in Nov. 2009. Since his appointment he has been a thorn in the side of energy producers.
The “Obama-appointed” label often indicates a movement liberal, and the former Southern Methodist University professor’s Web pages — still hosted on SMU’s website and divided into “teaching,” “research,” and “clean air community service” – indicate both his past environmental activism and the grant money he has collected to carry it out.
“For historical purposes, I will plan on keeping my previously-generated SMU documents on this web page for as long as the IT office at SMU allows,” he explained on the site.
Armendariz’s “research” resume highlights the hundreds of thousands of dollars he received as a professor from government and private institutions for research on pollution and related topics.
Specifically, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention paid him $299,032 for a three-year study on the “Control of Workplace Diesel Exhaust Particulate” that ran from 2005 to 2008.

Today is Commie Day, Occupiers in the US and around the globe are planning a massive protest to mark the communist holiday known as International Workers Day, or May Day.
They plan to shut down streets, bridges, god knows what else to voice their discomfort with people actually going to work. Oh, yea, they plan to boycott just about everything.
